JW-Media.org - Why isn't there an official statement about the Candace Conti case?

JW-Media.org is strangely silent about the Candace Conti case. They haven't said anything about it as of the time of this post.

I decided to call the media department at this number (718) 560-5600. I identified myself as a researcher who also has some websites. I was asked for the web address of my website. I replied that I wasn't willing to provide that and then explained that I was only looking for a public statement about the Candace Conti case. I told him that I checked the jw-media.org website and couldn't find anything. I was told that there wasn't a statement. I asked if there are any plans to put a statement on the site in the future. He said "no". I then asked if he is able to provide a statement for people who call in like me. He said "thank you" and hung up.

I was surprised at how abrupt he was. I have called previously and the people I talked to were generally polite, even though I asked some difficult questions.

Of course, I'm only one person. You may want to call too and see if they treat you the same way.

It appears that they are going to keep silent about this issue for the near future at least. I wonder if they realize how guilty that makes them look.

I hope the media are doing full blown stories on this. 

I don't think FOX or CNN have posted stories yet, we can hope the WTS is hanging up on them as well.   That isn't going to look real good.

I would imagine they are getting dozens if not hundreds of phone calls from rejoicing "apostates" rubbing their noses in their defeat. So it's probably not surprising that, once you failed their "sniff test" (unwilling to give your website) they abruptly cut you off.

I would not want to be the poor sap answering the phones for the media department this week.

I noticed that too that they haven't put it up on their website. The watchtower only posts news that will advantage them of will make them look like victims. No news that disadvantage them will appear on their website. They only show one side of the coin. Hypocrites. And they didn't recognize that they are wrong or did a mistake. They never apologize either.

yalbmert99, that's exactly what I was thinking.  If they put up anything at all, it will most likely be an article that talks about how they "abhor" molestation and "have been at the forefront of exposing it."  It will not specifically mention their loss or the recent case at all.

I didn't expect they would be anything but silent on this. They're probably praying about this and waiting for an answer from Jehovah.

I think most organizations would prepare something ahead of time, even if it were just something like, "We disagree with the decision and are considering our options." However, I don't think they even want to admit it's true on one of their official websites. They know that many Jehovah's Witnesses won't believe it unless they confirm it. 

The problem is that this is far too big to ignore. Their silence will be seen as an indication of guilt by many.

It's really quite telling that they don't mention it. As soon as a case goes against them in Russia they are all over it, presumably because they are confident they are in the right. The fact they don't want to talk about this case is a tacit admission they know they are in the wrong.

If the verdict and outcome had been in their favour it would have been tweeted like their recent success in Armenia. They are always eager to publicise how wonderful they think and everyone else thinks they are.

Their silence is proof of their guilt.

Their attorney was all over this, saying how he's shocked and how they "abhor" child abuse and he's going to appeal, blah blah blah.

Why aren't they backing him up?

Is it because any statement they make would require naming the real reason behind the unfavorable verdict: Satan and the demons?

The only statement the WTS will ever make about this is that they are being persecuted and the judgement was more proff of the world and governments  attack on them - the Great Tribulation is "close"

As far as the WTS says, the less said the better.

What can they say that would help them?

If they comment, it will just keep the story going longer in the media.

JWs are likely to ignore it or assume it's the world persecuting the truth.

We know you are reading this you people in Bethel... this is just the beginning!!  You people are pharisees and you know it so just admit it to yourselves. 

All I want is for my family to see the way you treat them - as cash cows and slaves to a printing and real estate business, shame on you all!!

Us 'apostates' wont give up until we see the end of this destructive cult.

Do you seriously think this is the kind of behaviour God expects of true disciples.
