Letter To NBC

Funny how ,as an active JW ,I would have seen this letter as reasonable and right. I now view it as part of their sinister plan to keep a lid on the paedophile problem.

That was , and is, their only concern, minimise bad publicity. The victims do not matter, implementing an active programme to protect the vulnerable was, and is, of no interest. The WT/JW religion is a Paedophile Paradise indeed. 

"We therefore do not view them as adversaries, but as individuals whose views and opinions should be heard within the framework of the congregation....."

This is a new one on me. Please could somebody tell me how the 'framework of the congregation' enables individuals to express their views and opinions???

They know they will lose face so they refrain....  I wonder how they know?  Hm.  Seems to me it is the place between a rock and another hard place...

cedars, you know perfectly well that you can have a difference of opinion from the friends...for a very, very short time.  

Thanks N.drew - yes I know how it really works. All questioning and expressions of alternative thinking within a congregation are ruthlessly silenced. Although evidently JRB (or whoever wrote this letter) didn't get the memo...

That's interesting.  First I've seen this one.

So, judging from the date on the letter, I'm taking it that almost 10 years has passed since Dateline's shocking expose' on JWs, and what has changed? 

Nothin'.  

So much for The Power of the Press.

Fact is, most people couldn't be bothered because, much to their chagrin, JWs just don't matter.   1/10th of 1% of the world's population, who erroneously happen to think that they somehow have a greater significance or importance in life because of some ficticious divine position.

Hence, the WTS had reason to disfellowship the person(S) who appeared.

WHat happened since?  People across the nation and world have become more aware of the pedophile problem inside the Watchtower.  The combined help of Silent Lambs, Bill Bowan, and Barbara Anderson's websites.  There was a class action lawsuit settled, and another "NBC" report done at that closure.  Now, there's this child worker licensing problem in Australia with a court inquiry.  And, it's coming to be a police investigation into a Jevovah's Witness congregation . . . 

Before all of this happened, I knew of 2 pedophiles in 2, different Florida congregations.  The 1st pedophile raped his adopted daughter, her son (his grandson), and, at least, one other woman.  The 2nd pedophile was a respected man in his congregation, who molested his niece.  I would have thought that these incidents were isolated, and had no involvement in the way the Bethel instructs elders to handle these situations.  With the help of Barbara, Bill, NBC, Love Law Firm, and others, it's all coming together.  The Watchtower is a "McDonald's" operation.  The strict policies are procedures, result in the same outcomes.  In this case, very sad outcomes.

Will we change the Watchtower?  Some want change overnight.  That would be great.  Perhaps if the Australia government arrests the Governing Body members . . .   And, to that, I will 'Never Say Never!'

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't one article state that some 'vindictive" individuals, referring to those who sued and won their case. went against the congregation. If they do not view them as adversaries then why was this written in one of the articles....Blondie help if you can with this one as i can not remember the magazine it was in.

Although I get their reluctance to air their dirty laundry before the general public, people who have nothing to hide... hide nothing.  Or so they say.
