Only if you believe it will happen "soon" are you sane in JW-land....

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES DO NOT TRY TO PREDICT WHEN GOD WILL DESTROY THE WICKED

That is an outright lie, when you consider their overlapping generation teaching. If their feet are held to the fire, (which of course they should be) then their teaching says the world will end by about 2114. (1914+100 for first generation and +100 for the second)

The exercise of typing out that doctrine makes me realize beyond any doubt that the the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses is composed of 100% dumbasses.

My younger daughter has her birthday on December 21. She'll be five. The end of the world would be a helluva b-day present, wouldn't it?

Once more, the WTS tries to rewrite its own history.

Sadly, if you didn't know any better, a person could be inclined to believe them.

    Hahaha good catch Witness 007

Don't you just love it when they lie outright?

    Remember this lie truth:

    *** w93 1/15 p. 5 ‘Caught Away to Meet the Lord’—How? ***
The Watchtower has consistently presented evidence to honesthearted students of Bible prophecy that Jesus’ presence in heavenly Kingdom power began in 1914.

No, all the WTS does is make statements like ...

The storm clouds of Armageddon cannot be far-off. Soon it will be time for the Son of man to come to execute Jehovah's judgment on the ungodly. - w2011 5/15 p. 15 par. 18.

Does the fact that Jehovah's day is on the horizon affect your day-to-day life right now? - w2006 12/15 p. 16 par. 5.

The fulfillment of Bible prophecy shows that we are living in "the last days" of this system of things. ... Very soon now, Jehovah God is going to intervene in human affairs and wipe out wickedness from the earth. - w1999 4/1 p. 19 par. 21.

When Christ wields the "rod of iron," which he will do very soon now, it means that all the kingdoms of this world will be smashed out of existence. This nation-destroying action was foretold at Daniel 2:44 - w1954 8/15 p. 486.

... thereby manipulating everyone into a perpetual state of high alert.

I don't know which is worse. Keeping everyone hyped, thinking the end's coming tomorrow for decades, or getting them to focus on a date that will inevitably disappoint.

Bungi Bill:Once more, the WTS tries to rewrite its own history.

Sadly, if you didn't know any better, a person could be inclined to believe them.

Excerpt from 1984, by George Orwell:

As soon as Winston had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of the Times and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by the flames.

What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the pneumatic tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of the Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound tracks, cartoons, photographs – to every kind of literature or document which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way, every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary. In no case would it have been possible, once the deed was done, to prove that any falsification had taken place….

A number of the Times which might, because of changes in the political alignment, or mistaken prophesies uttered by Big Brother, have been rewritten a dozen times still stood on the files bearing its original date, and no other copy existed to contradict it. Books, also, were recalled and rewritten again and again, and were invariably reissued without any admission that any alteration had been made. Even the written instructions which Winston received, and which he invariably got rid of as soon as he had dealt with them, never stated or implied that an act of forgery was to be committed; always the reference was to slips, errors, misprints, or misquotations which it was necessary to put right in the interests of accuracy.

    calamity-howling religious leaders,

    "Know Jehovah - How?" p216 (released 1971)

"9 Shortly, within our twentieth century, the “battle in the day of Jehovah” will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom. The ancient “soil of Israel” pictures the realm in which Christendom has operated. It pictures the standing and relationship that Christendom has claimed to occupy with God by means of his “new covenant” of which Jesus Christ is the mediator. Now is no time for anyone in Christendom to rely on any righteousness on the basis of his own merits and to boast of his own self-righteousness. Jehovah’s “sword” of warfare will cut off from this position that Christendom’s clergy claim for her all religionists who depend upon her having an acceptable standing with God."

First, I can remember the fallout from the 1975 disaster. They were still blaming the witlesses for it. They were so sure that Armageddon would be sometime in late 1975, as far back as the late 1960s. College was out, and people were urged to sell out and pious-sneer during the early 1970s. And those who did wasted everything.

As for the real end, it already happened. In fact, it was nothing more than the end of the Age of Pisces, and this past February it ended (though some will debate the real date, since there is no way of knowing the exact date and it is theoretically possible to retrograde a few seconds back into Pisces before entering Aquarius once for all time. However, the end of the age is nothing dramatic. You still have Christi-SCAM-ity trying to hold onto Pisces for dear life (holding us hostage with them), while signs of Aquarius (including increased questioning of religion) are rapidly accelerating. You probably didn't know the exact moment, unless you were a professional astrologer and had access to the exact position of the earth's equatorial plane relative with the sun's.

If that is a relief for the world, it is a big disappointment for hard-core Christians looking for the Second Coming. To those still looking for Jesus' return, the Rapture, or Armageddon, I recommend studying Jewish prophesies and trying to get in-depth research about their religion. If you can find sources, you will probably find that they don't even believe in Jesus--and are in fact (at the upper levels, at least) are trying to enslave the whole world. People are looking for the Christ, and those at the very top will probably pretend to be that Messiah. Those who do the research and realize that "the end of the world" is nothing more significant than entry into the Age of Aquarius will not be taken for this (or, just as bad, any Christian scams that urge people to sell out and prepare for an end that never comes).

And, people like Harold Camping and OBVES (and those running the Washtowel) would be out of business if everyone realized that the "end of the world" is nothing more than the end of a "season" or age. No big bangs, 45 kg hailstones, fire coming from above, fissures in the earth, or raptures. Just a transition from centralized religion to people being their own gods (like Satan originally intended).

WHAT FUTURE FOR THE YOUNG?, Awake! 22 May 1969, pages 14 & 15

YOUNG or old, you need to face up to the fact that this system is not going to change its direction. Under Satan's influence, it will continue to deteriorate rapidly in its remaining years.
The truth of this can be seen in crime statistics everywhere. In the United States the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that in 1968 there was a fantastic 17-percent increase in crime over 1967. This came on top of many years of other large increases. The population, however, grew only one percent last year. So crime exploded seventeen times as fast as the population!
If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the "last days" in 1914, Jesus foretold: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur."--Matt. 24:34.
Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!
This is why parents who base their lives on God's prophetic Word find it much more practical to direct their young ones into trades that do not require such long periods of additional schooling. And trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and others, will be useful not only now, but perhaps even more so in the reconstruction work that will take place in God's new order.
With such practical trades, many young persons have been able to sustain themselves with part-time work. This allows them to spend much more of their time helping interested persons to learn God's requirements for life by studying the Bible with them.
True, those who do not understand where we are in the stream of time from God's viewpoint will call this impractical. But which is really practical: preparing yourself for a position in this world that soon will pass away? or working toward surviving this system's end and enjoying eternal life in God's righteous new order?--1 John 2:17.
In these urgent times, as this wicked system writhes in its death pangs, this counsel from God's Word is most practical for all who want to keep living: "My son, my law do not forget, and my commandments may your heart observe, because length of days and years of life and peace will be added to you."--Prov. 3:1, 2.
