Every time I load in JW.net and go to "active topics" I get an active  list of gals of every description and age moving through a left side pannel.  I find it a bother.  Anyone been sucessful in deleting or changing unwanted adds permanently?

With adblock you wont even see them. A very simple blocker if you really must use IE is to find and edit your "hosts" file. It provides a way to map host names to ip addresses. Click on the ad once and record the domain that it takes you too. Add a line to your hosts file and assign that same domain to 127.0.0.1 which is a special pointer to your machine. Any time a request is now made for that domain your browser will try and load some file from your local web server. Since you probably dont have one the load will fail and there fore theres nothing to build and show any ad. In short this is pretty much how all blockers work...they watch requests for certain domans and return failure ornohting in place.

Starting topics about them makes them appear more. Just sayin'....

Excellent.  The alternate suggestion was to lay off the German midget pr0n, Vanderhoven.  That, of course, would've only been a last resort.

See if you can only block the pop-ups and leave the rest of JW.net's ads on, and try clicking them every once in awhile.. It would help Simon with some advertising revenue I'm sure..

If you are bothered by this kind advertising, on this this site as well as others, you can add a tracking protection add-on.

Here is a list from Microsoft.

It must be an obsession thread. But, why would you want to date an ad?

One way to reduce this type of ads is to use your browser to order some silver.  Research several vendors on that browser, and then order your silver from your favorite.  Then, the ads should be for vendors of silver.  Bonus:  When the dollar becomes toilet paper, you will have your silver to get you a little while into the mess and preserve that much of your wealth.  It doesn't matter how much or how little--a single silver dime is enough to do the job.

If you don't like silver, you can order something you are in the market for (Christmas lights, computers or computer software, a vacation to your favorite destination, or whatever you might be interested in).  That should change the nature of the ads.  Sometimes all it takes is browsing a topic.

Ad blockers work, but then again if everyone used them, these sites would begin to lose too much money.  I guess it comes down to whether the ads are more annoying than paying a monthly fee to use the forums, or if the monthly fee would be more annoying.  That is how these forums get their revenue--and, if you use the tracking system to your own advantage, you are more likely to see ads for products you actually use.  Then, all parties win because the forum gets its revenue and you get products you are in the market for.

In just the last few days I have seen a transition from mail order bride ads to recipes using McCormick spices, etc.

Anyway, when the brides start arriving from Bangladesh I'll be able to feed them some tasty food.
