More AGM news continues to trickle in….

13,582 were in attendance from 91 countries.

Confirmation that Brother Splane has been named as Barr’s successor in Writing.

Confirmation of all 6 Central American countries merging under the Mexican Branch. The Bethel family staff has been reduced from 300 to 75.

Branch News……

Branch consolidations were not about individual Branch efficiency rather better use of kingdom possessions as a whole. This allows for greater unity and optimal spiritual benefit.

Some examples of these benefits are:
(a) Fewer Zone Visits
(b) Merged countries may share Traveling Overseers
(c) Fewer Training Courses
(d) Resources are freed up enabling Branch expansion into areas such as Macedonia and Serbia (and others but no other territories were directly named)

Court cases…..

Russia-  The Russian Government is appealing the ECHR June 10, 2010 ruling to the Grand Chamber. Requests for continued prayers.

France- The ECHR has agreed to consider the WTS appeal over the 60% taxing of contributions. If we are able to prevail it will have a great impact on our status and sit as precedent for any future cases in Europe.

New Stuff:……

1-year trial starting mid-2011 of a ‘Simplified English’ language WT edition for countries where English is a 2nd language; if successful, benefits are extended to the translation departments as well as to parents of young children.

2-year trial (USA) shepherding program for DO (and wives), global afterwards

4 Theocratic Schools. Starting Sept 1, 2011 each year Patterson will host 2 Branch Committee classes and 2 Traveling Overseer classes. These will be the second courses for the Brothers.

New school: “Bible School for Christian Couples”.

Self-evaluation: …Ask yourself how you would react to counsel regarding personal lifestyle?  What if the scriptural counsel differs from personal opinion? Will you be obedient in molding?

Example: An adult child who lives outside of the household is DFd? While the term ‘Necessary family business’ is a term familiar with those in this circumstance; the GB wants to stress there is no need to push this to the extreme! ….Basically to shorten the example and to get to the heart of the matter….. there must be incentive for the DFd person to want to return. Parents are encouraged to give a little but to leave the DFd child desiring for more while promoting their actions as motivate by their love for Jah. The end result is hope that the DFd child in wanting full access to the abundant love of his parents willl also begin to see his losses in not having a relationship with Jehovah and seek reinstatement.

1 Thes 5:2, 3 …………… "Peace & Security" , we are still awaiting fulfillment, this scripture is referring to a an exceptional development but all is a veneer and will fool all who are not spiritual awake!

The Borg has read Releasing the Bonds.

Free Family getting cult members' authentic selves to miss their family bonds and activities is a key to getting people out of cults.  Apparently the Borg thinks it works to get people back IN, too.

It could work if people who leave or get DFd do not form relationships outside the Borg.  I think an important part of JW recovery is support for those newly DFd.  There's a good amount of it here from JWN members but are there groups working at the local level on that sort of thing?

This is the WTS/GB's cop-out of any responsibility on any such issues that they themselves created.

For example,  after '75, they say they didn't say that, some of the 'others' did.

For example, if some die due to no blood, the GB state they did not make that decision, that was the person that died, decision.

If parents or family, shun a DF'd family member, that was the personal decision of those people.

no need to push this to the extreme!    the WT clearly, stresses to not even say hello to such a DF'd person,,that pushes it all to the extreme.  It's been threatened for years that if one associates with a DF'd person, expecially publicly, they, too, will be DF'd   

The GB have no back-bone,,they put the rank & file to be extreme.  No wonder many countries see the JWs to be "extremists."

Mad Sweeney,,we have a support group here in Phoenix like that for newly Df'd and ones coming out of the organization.  No belief agenda, we are quite diversified.  We have helped some that were about to go into the organization too.

Who do they think they're fooling? An (even further) dumbed-down English WT is to attract the least educated and most vulnerable Bible studies cult victims.

That's a two-way street.  They are trying to give faithful members an excuse to violate the shunning rule.  Why don't they just say, "Be loving, then jerk your love away!" or "Blackmail your df'ed loved ones back!" ?

No change then...half the dubs I know have gone off the idea of a real cry of P and S....Why does it sound Orwellian when they say that the others are all fooled but we see through the veneer !....because we are special...

YNot, let me ask you something. There's some confusion as to the context of their resolution of DF'd adult relatives and how they're to be treated. Are they saying, they don't want us to be too extreme in how we shun DF'd relatives? Or are they saying we shouldn't be too extreme in spending more time with DFd relatives?
