Picture it:  A retired widower moves down from Philadelphia.  He buys a nice house, and starts attending the local KH.

Pretty soon, single, lonely ladies are almost fighting for his attention.  One particularly pushy married lady from a celebrated JW family taps him for her niece who, divorced with several kids and a deadbeat ex-husband, is in dire straits.

Those two descend on the widower and deluge him with home-cooked meals, home decor advice, etc.  He goes along with it, never losing his gentlemanly demeanor.  Niece begins to drop hints that a wedding will soon be taking place.  The family acts as if they own the man.

Well, the widower puts a stop to this.  The visits to his home by aunt and niece cease abruptly, and the humiliated niece switches to another congregation.  The unflappable widower sits on his porch, smiling benignly and offering cool drinks and WT literature to passersby.

My JW sister told me this story.  It did both our hearts good because neither of us cares for the celebrated JW family.

There will be lonely hearts and those who try to match them with the eligible anywhere one looks.

I hope the widower is happy - I also hope the lonely heart finds a way to fill the hole in her life.

I know, Jeff, and I feel sympathy for her.

It's just that the family I mentioned think they can lord it over everyone else, and that anything good should be theirs.

    Tee hee hee.

Sylvia, I saw this from the female side in our circuit.  There were 3 sisters (real ones) all were absolutely stunning.  All full time pioneers, and the mother was the proudest peacock going.   You never saw a woman hold her head so high, all dressed to the nines, front row sitters at the assemblies, ....and the parading up and down the aisles that went on!

Every guy from the midwest to Bethel was after them.  As it turns out, nothing seemed to turn out well. One disappeared with her kids, whereabouts unknown for years, I still don't know if they found her.  The other 2, I heard things on and off, and never knew if they got married, but nothing seemed to go right.

This is what happens with JW's, they have their shining stars, most glorious and popular, it is worse than highschool.

I hope these girls have happier lives after all these years.

    r.

    Thanks for your input, Restrangled.

That's the point of my post.  This family thought they had it all - assembly parts, MS, elders, etc.

It was gratifying to see them get their comeuppance.

Good for the widower, turning down the advances of that dub family.
