While i'm not fussed about getting into moral issues over the shoulds and shouldnts, I'm quite interested in how well this jab has been received in other countries. Cervarix fda aproval pending? is the cheaper version that the uk is going gung ho for, and its being exhulted as being effective against a couple of strains and supposedly more effective on those two than the gardasil which covers a wider group, though it seems gardasil has the fda aproval and is the one that has more widely been used in other countries? much as i would applaud anything that can ofset pre cervical and cervical cancers having already had the indignities of being lasered myself, i can't help but worry about the results of long term gain over some of the side effects they dont advertise while pushing the benefits. Has there been any increase in muscular problems for instance. I'm just wondering whether the vaccinations are still being well received in the usa or are cracks beginning to show?

I am worried it will give teens a false sense of security that they are covered for more, but I think the benefits outweigh the deficits |

i can see the benefits but i'm worried about the long term effects that may take a while to come out, i'm not sure its been around long enough to see what else it does, by protecting your child against 2 of the 98ish others is good but has there been any long term results on whether it increases other dehibilitating conditions? arthralgia myalgia are two of the side effects mentioned, its pretty hard to sift through all the info to see whether its a long or short term thing, there are already cases of people starting up court cases suing for side effects and its only been used for a short while, ok the chances of your child losing the use of their legs maybe slim in the numbers concerned but i'm looking up as much as i can right now. which is why im wondering how the jabs are going elsewheres |

Arthralgia (joint pain) and myalgia (muscular pain) are two common (usuallyshort-lived) side effects of any vaccine. Discussing the vaccine with one of the docs where I work, he told me that (according to the study he reviewed) Gardasil is different from any vaccine produced to date, in that it not only creates an immune response when given to the patient, but also causes enhanced immunity with each exposure to ANY strain of HPV. I'll see if I can dig up the study he was talking about and post it. May take a while, but I will check it out for you. |

cheers scully, increased immunity with exposure to any strain sounds good, not sure that the cervarix one theyre doing here does that.

These sorts of vaccines will be a thing of the past in a few years. RNAi treatments will allow the immune system to "reboot" and essentially have all the immunities you want. BTS |
