On my last topic I talking about how mean and harassing my parents were being and how I had to change the deadbolt on my front door to keep my father out.  Well the update is my father didn't carry out his threat.  He never showed and has ceased calling.  Quiet before the storm?  Perhaps, but I'm not going to let it get to me - I've got a husband to take care of and a family to raise.  Sad thing is my kids don't seem to care or miss them.

That is sad about your kids.  I was raised without grandparents in my life because my grandparents were "worldly."  It sucks not having grandparents.  But in the case of your parents, your kids may be better off, given the cult mindset.

On Friday my eight year old son's school had Grandparents' day.  The kids were to invite their grandparents to school for a children's performance and tour of their grandchild's classroom and then afterwards perhaps taking their child to lunch.  I didn't even bother to tell my parents about it - they wouldn't gone and I didn't want my son to ask them just to get his heart broken.  So I went to the performance and told my son afterwards what a good job he did.  His sweet smile told me that he was glad I went.  My parents don't appreciate what they are missing.

    Dear Mrs. Jones,

Wanted to say hi, but this is too close to home emotionally to comment on.

    Wishing and hoping the best.

    Love,

    CoCo

mrsjones, check out journey-on's thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/175940/1/I-Am-Literally-Shaking). She's also having problems with her JW family (a sister, in this instance).

I'm glad you're protecting yourself and your family against JWs, even if it includes your parents. Trying to please everyone just doesn't work.

    I appreciate that LWT.

Yeah Parakeet, you're so right.  Trying to please someone by denying your true self is mentally taxing.  It's actually been easier dealing with social services than it has been to deal with my parents.

Every time I look out for myself and my family, I win. Every time I lower my own boundaries, I lose. From my personal experience, kids are better off without Witness grandparents if the grandparents are like my parents. The Witness grandparents will influence your own children to shun you. That's what mine did.

I wouldn't let my kids within 100 miles of a believing Jehovah's Witness under ANY circumstances.

Josie, I'm glad that everything has calmed down -- even if turns out to be just for the moment.

And truth be told, Gary's viewpoint has much to recommend - at least for minor children.

It's a cult. It's dangerous. If JW relatives can't leave the poison at home, you may have to leave them alone.

Just speaking from my own experience. Your mileage may vary.

I totally get Gary.  One of the reasons I loved living in Indiana was the distance between my parents and I.  Mother couldn't just pop in and I could ignore my parents' calls.  So I'm putting myself back into the Indiana/distance mindset.

There is another side story I didn't tell the board:

Before we had set out for California and were talking to my parents about what kind of help they were offering, Dad made the suggestion of having my two older boys live with them.  He made the suggestion (oh it was close to a demand) because my parents were only able to find two bedroom apartments (being here now I find that hard to believe) and only five people are legally allowed to live in a two bed apt.  Dad continues on and says "You know I don't allow false religion in my house so the boys will be required to go to the hall with me and your mother.  They won't be allowed to stay in the house by themselves."  I told my father I could not agree to something like that, thank you for the offer but we will make other arrangements.  I should have stuck with that but Mother begged and talked me into accepting help with finding a place to stay and like a fool I let them help me.
