I Retract My Statements

Alabama Post 6154 of 11426 Since 5/2/2007	In the recent past, I started a thread on how I can't stand teenagers. Something has happened to make me ashamed of those statements. My daughter informed me that her 15-year old daughter stayed on the phone all night with a friend because her friend was afraid to go to sleep. The friend's dad had to leave around midnight to go out of town to work. The child called my g'daughter and asked her to stay on the phone with her because she was home alone and afraid. My g'daughter propped herself up in bed with her ipod and a cup of tea and talked to her friend until dawn began to break. Now, that is real friendship. I just wanted to share this. Sylvia

Texas Post 16958 of 18345 Since 2/8/2002	I have to say that for several years I've begun to think that teenagers have a special insight that previous generations do not have. These teens were born into a world of the Internet. They see people on the other side of the planet the same way we see our next door neighbor. They also seem to have a personal humility and openness that previous generations do not have. They have no problem with their friends pointing out flaws and showing embarrassing videos and pictures. To the teens, such things are fair game. If they were caught on video doing something stupid, they could care less if the whole world sees it on YouTube.

Post 1005 of 1010 Since 5/2/2006	I very much agree with Elsewhere. You often hear people complain about todays youth and who forget that they were no better or ever worse. They complain about their music, hair and clothing. But who designs, produces and promotes all the teen stuff??? It is highly educated and payed adult professionals. Large industries fully aim at the vulnerable youngsters and make big money. fts

DJK, this area is really hard hit economically speaking; the dad was just happy to get some work. He didn't have time to make arrangements for Baby Girl. Elsewhere, teenagers are special; one day you want to kill them, the next, you want to hug them! Avi, a big hug back to you and your little special girl. Peace and strength to you. FreetoSee, it's so much easier to throw stones than to gather them. I forget sometimes that I was once a teenager. Musky, her parents have to pay the phone bill, thankfully! Sylvia
