You know, he smacks his wife and defends doing it. Finding that out made me lose respect for him. He just doesn't have the same magic he used to.

I was disappointed to read that aspect of it as well.  He denied beating but
admitted using some slaps in extreme confrontations:

Connerie in French means "a foolish thing" or "stupidity" And when the French talk about Alfred Hitchcock, it sounds like Itch Cock And Vladimir Putin's last name has to be changed in newspapers to Putine because otherwise it would be pronounced like the equivalent of a naughty word (putain) Yep.

    RE: Connery slapping his wife:

The Japanese have a saying, " Western men kiss their wives in public and beat them in private, japanese men beat their wives in public and kiss them in private".

Mrs.Connery found what he said quite amusing.

Of course if you knew the history between Sean and Barbara Walters, you'd understand why he aid that and why, years later in another interview with her, confirmed it.

Of course Sean is old school, I recall when Paul Newman was asked why he has never cheated and he replied, " Why go out for hamburger when you have steak at home", the feminist of the time wanted to lynch him !

Of course he and his "steak" were together for decades if I recall.

My wife and I sat behind him and his wife during a performance of Taming of the Shrew which starred his son Jason. My wife love SC and told on pain of death not to talk to him.
