It's been a while since I read a book. Haven't read a book since I got married. She even got mad when I bought a hardcover book instead of a paperback which is cheaper. LOL Looks interesting, I'm browsing the titles. Cool deal and cool beans! Thanks for the excellent link. Edit, hmmm, 9 bux for a year to down a book. Not sure if I wanna join. A bit disappointing though, I have to be very careful with my budget, especially now that my wife is home. Yiz |

Well there are free books on the site, quite a few as a matter of fact. Apple even has an app for iTouch and iPhones that's free. I've already downloaded one free book onto my iPhone and I have a few more in mind. Oh and the book fair is about downloading free ebooks...no fee. Josie
Main PageFrom Project Gutenberg, the first producer of free electronic books (ebooks). The Project Gutenberg collection was produced by tens of thousands of volunteers. You can help -- start here! Project Gutenberg needs your pennies, nickels and dimes. An average of just one cent per eBook downloaded would make a huge difference. How to Donate Starting July 4: The 2009 [World eBook Fair], with 2 million eBooks! See the [press release]. Free BooksTop 100 downloads, of millions downloaded each month, just from iBiblio. There are nearly 30,000 free books in the Project Gutenberg Online Book Catalog. A grand total of over 100,000 titles are available at Project Gutenberg Partners, Affiliates and Resources. If you don't live in the United States, please check the copyright laws of your country before downloading or redistributing a book.

Josie said: Where does it say there's a fee? Curious since I have downloaded a couple of free books. You're good... I think all is well... although the free bit is supposed to start July 4th and run for a month. The front page says: Our goal is to provide Free public access for a month to 2 Million eBooks. During the rest of the year you may continue to download your selection of about 500,000 PDF eBooks by joining the World Public Library. Annual membership is only $8.95 per year. Thanks so much for the heads-up, Josie! Love, |

No, the sites I posted have mainly ebooks and a few audibles. The free ones are in the public domain and include a lot of classics. I've found a series of woman detective stories from the late 1800's that I'm eager to download. I've already downloaded a cute little book called "The Visiters" written by a 9 years old, I had seen a production of the book by the BBC (starring Hugh Laurie) and really wanted to read the book.
