I was looking at the Moyle court case transcript, and noticed that some of the
Watchtower publications were included in the record. One item from something that was like a "Kingdom Ministry" that caught my attention was a notice about Box Tops! In the late 1930's (1938?), the Watchtower had the Companies (congregations) involved in "Box Top" collection drives. The box tops would be sent to Headquaters for the Watchtower to redeam them for cash. (at least that is what I think they would redeam them for, they didn't use them for wallpaper!)I don't think anyone has mentioned this form of "theocratic" activity from the 30s before.--VM44 |

Doesn't The Watchtower say that it never asked for money? I wonder who paid the postage to ship the bundles of coupons back to Brooklyn? |

I find it amusing the Brooklyn Bethel organized "box top" collections throughout the United States. Were that that desperate for money? |

They were also trying to get people to buy Miracle Wheat. Turned into a big scandal because, not only did the Miracle Wheat not generate huge crops, it was also considered to be substandard and produced extremely poor crops. |
