Thats the dumbest thing i ever heard, nobody puts servers in the basement just inc ase it rains...or a pipe floods etc. There is no strategic advantage to using the basement for this when you have plenty o fohter floors above ground.

   Or look at the tire at the bottom right of the pic of the jetway. I think that they lowered it down to ground level to keep the wind from getting ahold of it.
