ex Bethelites: Chuck Lebensperger?

Hi...

 I may be misspelling this guys name, but while I was in Patterson doing long-term temporary (before I got accepted longer and moved to Brooklyn Bethel), this guy was my table head. He seemed to be really arrogant. His attitude towards me was very condescending. Was it just me...or is he just that way?
He struck me as being big-time around Patterson (early 90's - while it was still under construction). 800.00 suits, gold wrings, expensive wristwatch...the whole deal. He very clearly had money.
 Just wondering if any of you folks knew this guy and could tell me what his deal was.
 Going to Bethel, and meeting this guy was a turning point for me (in hindsight). He looked and behaved like a Wall Street Exec. I remember cold mornings, dressed in work clothes and TIRED...leaving morning worship to go slave, while he would slip on his expensive trench coat and wander off...and wishing i had HIS job....

Yes, I know him. Chuck Liebensperger. He was a big time executive for Mighty Auto Parts for many years, thats why he has the money. 

I do not have any problems with him when I have talked to him in the past. He treated me with respect. 

Yes, he has the arrogant look, that is part of his personality. 

I wonder about his son, Jonathan, What is his current status in the borg? Is he currently an elder or MS?

oops, the right spelling of his last name is leibensperger. 

I attended a seminar some time ago in Orlando Fl where he was an intircate part of a presentation to flesh out money via the Planned Giving arrangement. There was a whiz bang Powerpoint presentation that was used to show how wonderful annuites were for the giver and the Borg. We were supposed to be so impressed that we would cough up some money and also help refer any other well healed folks towards piling up the bucks.

At the time I thought: They can use fancy computer graphics to ferret out money but heaven help us if we used any thing with flash in a public talk.

He is/was a millionaire as one of the above posters mentioned. I believe he was also part of the CoHi shill company that Crooklyn used to buy up real estate around Brooklyn.

IAMALLCOOL - Jon Leibensperger is still an elder as far as I know.

Not to derail your topic but was Mighty auto parts a JW company?  I know a few local brothers were involved with that company for a while about 15 years ago in the Wisconsin area.

Yes it was a JW company til Dallas Wallace, the founder sold it. He is now deceased.

I seem to recall that Chuck had been in bethel and the circuit work until the kids came along. Then he made a wad of cash off Mighty.

I knew him when he was a commuter in charge of construction personnel at Patterson. One of my irritations was that bethel had certain rules, such as the areas around the construction office were for society/construction vehicles... except for Chuck. And so Chuck would drive either his Mercedes or BMW and park it in the front corner of the lot. This would be right alongside where all kinds of trucks, heavy equipment, semis, forklifts, and other vehicles travelled. Rather irritating that we would have to be extra careful because somebody had to park their flashy, expensive car in such a risky location.

In the construction office, mostly it was cheap "almost used to death" society furniture. In Chuck's office, he brought in an expensive personal desk, office chair, and other equipment. One time I was in his office, I noticed that he had magazines like Inc. and Money laying around. After construction wound down at Patterson, he was with Planned Giving as a commuter. Then he was no longer a commuter, but still very connected.

Chuck certainly had a "superior" air about him. I almost think that if he didn't have money, he might have become a partaker to get ahead in the organization.

I knew Jon when he was a bethelite at Wallkill. Didn't know him that well, but we knew people in common. I keep wondering if he or some of those people might show up here on the forum someday. The daughter, Bethel, had a brain tumor when she was young. I think there was an article a long time ago in one of the magazines about them. She married Bob Roddish, from the Michigan network of JW bethelites. They had at least one kid that was used in lots of society pictures.

I often wondered, in the ranks of the society's monied followers that were around Patterson, if the Grozescus had more money than Liebenspergers. Chuck certainly tended to act more like "new money".

I knew his son well Johnathan was in my hall for years, and I met the daughter Bethel...  cuz they had to leave Bethel when they got pregnant
