Clinton and EnronWell, some have been picking on my boy W. Bush. While I read on in disbelief at the reasoning (just rubbish) that Bush is somehow now a crook because Enron donated money to the Republicans!! Well, here is a real story, and what do you know? Mr. Clinton is involved...Even the Dems admit that this is not about W. Bush. Nice try liberals,....but Clinton just won’t go away........W., keep on baby, you are doing great!"Interestingly, Enron is also a prominent player in the Clinton-era fundraising scandal in which Commerce Department trade mission seats were sold in exchange for political contributions. Enron's Kenneth Lay, a Clinton donor, went on one of these scandalous trade missions with the late Ron Brown to India in January, 1995 and received hundreds of millions of dollars of aid from the Clinton Administration for its energy projects in India. Enron even attempted to enter into joint ventures with John Huang's Lippo Group (a Chinese intelligence front operation, according to government reports) as a result of the Clinton Administration trade trips. "FLASHBACK: CLINTON OFFICIAL MET WITH ENRON CHAIRMAN; $100,000 CASH DONATION TO DEMOCRATS TIMED TO PLANT APPROVAL
TIME MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 1, 1997 On Nov. 22, 1995 President Clinton scrawled an FYI note to chief of staff Mack McLarty, enclosing a newspaper article on Enron Corp. and the vicissitudes of its $3 billion power-plant project in India.McLarty then reached out to Enron's chairman, Ken Lay, and over the next nine months closely monitored the project with the U.S. ambassador to New Delhi, keeping Lay informed of the Administration's efforts, according to White House documents reviewed by TIME magazine. In June 1996, four days before India granted final approval to Enron's controversial $3 billion power-plant project, Enron's gave $100,000 to President Clinton's party. Enron denies that its gift was repayment for Clinton's attention, and White House special counsel Lanny Davis says McLarty acted out of concern for a major U.S. investment overseas, TIME's Michael Weisskopf reported.“We all fell down from the milky way, hanging around here for the judgement day, heaven only knows who’s in command.”- Jimmy Buffet |

Politicians are mainly a bunch of crooks - see also http://www.public-i.org/story_01_100400.htmBy deluding people into thinking that they have a choice between so-called liberal and conservatives they neatly succeed in preventing people from thinkig for themselves at all. The WTS does the same thing : "We are on God's side and everyone else is on Satan's side." Joe Alward does it with his insistence that there is an "either or" solution to the library carda nd the UN. Oldest trick in the book and it still works well. It's a neat substitute for rational thought and so is heavily used by those in power. There is a solution, however - read, study and analyze for yourself instead of swallowing what the popular press has to offer.Lionel

Wow, that is pretty heavy. However, I was addressing a subject that was one-sided- The Liberal mantra (wow, talk about reading mis-info!) on Enron. Also, my quotes come from Judicial Watch and the Drudge Report, hardly mainstream...............“We all fell down from the milky way, hanging around here for the judgement day, heaven only knows who’s in command.”- Jimmy Buffet

Sorry, I was not trying to mislead you about my views. I do look at all sides, and based on my convictions, I do stand for specific values. However, the earlier thread was one-sided.......Also, I do not subscribe to the “nearly all politicians are crooks” mantra either. Just as I don’t believe that all WT loyalists are crooks or bad or brain dead.

Lionel, you are one sharp cookie.
And right on.Society's perspective on the whole left and right spectrum is a collective illusion. And society gets yanked this way and that in that spectrum depending on who won the last election. If you spend any time watching C-Span, you will notice:1. The left and right are political enemies. 2. Each side is convinced that it knows how to make society better. 3. Each side is convinced the other enjoys undue sway. 4. Each side blames the other for the political quagmire that apparently prevents society from dealing effectively with its problems. Its time to take the red pill! (The Matrix) Lionel, I wanted to say thank you for your posts. Dino |

Boy, you can tell you live in another country. In fact, the right and left are very close, not "enemies" as you describe them. In fact, Clinton got most of the Right’s agenda passed when in office (NAFTA, Welfare reform, to name a few). However, in the Dems eyes, Clinton could still do no wrong. The concept is the same, however the degree of action taken is the issue.
