Did You Ever Secretly "Sin" & The Elders Never Knew About It?

We, as elders, would every so often give a little talk about keeping the congregation clean and that if anyone felt the need to talk to us, to get whatever is bothering them off their chest, we would be readily available to them. You'd be shocked to see how many would tell us some naughty things they were feeling guilty about.

I'm sure there were plenty of smart people who simply kept quiet and didn't say a word.

Here's your opportunity to tell us what you wouldn't tell them.

Hell, I had the elders on my ass constantly about all sorts of stupidity. The last thing I needed was to turn up the heat by volunteering information about my "secret sins", of which there were plenty.

Well I don't count cuz I was never dipped but my mother (dipped) has been playing the California Lotto ever since it's inception in 1984.  And I'm quite sure she's never exposed that little secret to the elders.

    Oh yes.

I was constantly intimate with a former non-Witness girlfriend of mine who I was "bringing into the 'truth.'"  I would often spend the night at her place and she at mine (though at my place we had to keep one eye out for family members walking in).

Unbelievably, we never went all the way as I had a great deal of self-control.  I could kick myself now!

I didn't return a nice block of cheese that turned up in my groceries.

It made the best na-noni-deez (as my almost-two-year-old g'son called it) ever!

    LOL.

Shame on you Sylvia!  lol   You are so sweet. If that's all you ever kept secret then I think you are ok.   As for me, well I'm not saying!!

No really, I guess if one of the elders asked if I had ever visited a site like this fun place I'd keep it a secret!

Hey!  I knew some who went for keeping extra change from the vending machine!

    We were an indoctrinated lot.

I think you're right Mini.  Mother once told us that if she ever won the jackpot that we were to stand in her stead since none of us have been dipped.  Funny to know that she has a contingency plan.

    That's priceless, Mrs. J.

I got away with smoking and drinking.  Even if dragged to the back room over something else, I never told them about that.  I had to do something to keep my sanity.

let's see: playing touchy feely before marriage with my wife. in fact, we were only a few days from the wedding day when it got really good. before playing touchy feely with wife, had a few long baths since i had no one to play touchy feely with.  smoked a cigar at a wedding for a non jw friend.   more to drink that should have many times.  there are a few other things but i cant give away all my secrets. yet.

My best friend fooled around, everything but intercourse, a few days before the wedding. They never told, as far as I know. He became an elder and has suffered from mental problems for yeads, sad to say.

Yes... I used to "think" about one particular elder's wife during many a long dull meeting.

    I 'think' that counts.

i felt regret for some of the things i did. most of the things i did.  but i never felt it needed to be said between me and others.  the stuff before i was married with my wife i prayed about and asked god for forgiveness and felt it was all that was needed.  i never felt regret for the cigar incident.  the drinking too much, i figured i suffered physically and that in turn was my punishment.

Hah. I never trusted an elder enough to confess a sin. If I sinned, it was between me and my "god."
