Just thought I would share this.........a brother who used to be a mercenary before he came into the Truth gave the talk at the Hall yesterday and he said that the Bible was like Jehovah's CV.....it told us everything about Him.....so we can really know Him. He also said with all the governments and all the rules and regulations in the world, and nothing working at the moment, we should appreciate that Jehovah only has 2 laws.............Love Him above all other things, and love our neighbours..........if only the whole world obeyed those 2 laws there would be peace without the need for Armageddon................so its all down to humans why things are going wrong. If we abandoned the planet tomorrow the earth would repair itself and there would be peace and harmony in Nature......... Man has really messed up. Thank goodness we have had the chance to know Jehivah and have a hope for the future!!

If he hadn't had the celebrity of having been a soldier of fortune, would it have been as well received?
Not trying to put out the fire of the spirit, but isn't blaming all of mankind for the pecadillo of one confused human and dragging this all out over thousands of years a tad excessive?
Wouldn't the lifetime of Adam have been sufficient?
I know the presentation of U.S. (universal sovereignty) as a rebuttal, however it fails because the misuse of power is what it represents. It's unethical for someone to be unwillingly dragged into an experiment such as that of Universal Sovereignty without his or her consent. To echo Abraham..."Is the judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?"? Apparently not. |

We can really know Jehovah by reading the Hebrew scriptures. Have you learned about this guy? After the unfair test, Jehovah kept interfering with Man's efforts. There's no telling what Man might have accomplished (according to the Bible) so Jehovah confused their languages and created the racist bigotry that causes "all the governments and all the rules and regulations in the world, and nothing working at the moment..." Oh, and that was after He destroyed Mankind once already. Jehovah has really messed up. As far as a hope for the future, Watchtower has always always always been wrong with their predictions. Jehovah did not bring about the end in 1874, 1914, 1915, 1925, 1975, before the 1914 generation passed away, or in the 20th century. Great track record. |

he said that the Bible was like Jehovah's CV.....it told us everything about Him.....so we can really know Him. Yes, it really does allow you to know him. The bible is full of his works, genocide, hatred, jelousy, rape, incest, pillaging, all in his name. Then there is the tiny tiny segment where is says the two laws you mentioned, loving your neighbor, etc... oh yea, thats from Jesus, not jehovah. Then it goes right back to mind me or all is death and destruction. Nice god you worship. Ada |

we should appreciate that Jehovah only has 2 laws.............Love Him above all other things, and love our neighbours Wait a minute...that's it? So why do people get disfellowshipped for breaking other laws, such as... -- Accepting a blood fraction that's just a little bit bigger than another "acceptable" blood fraction? -- Pointing out obvious inconsistencies in the Society's policy on reporting child abuse? -- Touching your girlfriend's tatas for longer than an "acceptable" period of time? -- [Fill in your own unscriptural reason for disfellowshipping here]? |

"nothing works" This is a lie. It gets repeated over and over and over to justify whatever the Watchtower wants. Right now, despite many defects, Social Security works. Medicare works. Our flawed healthcare system still functions. The world picks itself up, dusts itself off and gets back to work just as it has for 130 years of Watchtower history. They have been dead wrong for 130 years, preaching "Armageddon soon". Not only that but with stem cell technology on the way, we may create a sort of functional immortality. And what do we see in the Watchtower world? Laying off Bethelites in the US, in Spain, in Italy. The Society has to cut back on everything because publishers aren't giving them enough donations. They are selling off Assembly Halls in Argentina, Sweden, Denmark. The organization is suffering a massive loss of young people. Western nations are losing elders. Jesus said to remove the rafter in your own eye before you remove the splinter in your brother's eye. The Organization is too secretive and quietly dishonest to do that.

I will strongly disagree with his premise that nothing is working with human governments at the moment. Is your electricity still on?- running water? does your bathroom work? How about getting medical help for a serious illness? Can you buy food at the grocery store? Compared to even 20 years ago we have had improvements in our life. Does anyone remember the Berlin wall falling? Yes, it was humans who tore it down, not Jehoobah and what about that Internet that brings the world closer together and even makes this forum possible- why, it was men who invented it and keep it running. Nobody in the Bible even had a clue there would be an Internet, or radio, or TV or even a telephone and telegraph. There are more cures for diseases and birth defects than ever before- all by the work of men and women who are not JW's. As far as humans destroying the earth, we haven't done any sort of thing- the real destruction will come in a billion years when the sun heats up and burns off all the air and water from the surface of the earth. A big comet or asteroid wiped out all the dinosaurs and much of the life on earth a few million years ago- humans haven't caused any destruction compared to that- and what about that flood of Noah?- wasn't that destruction worse that what humans have done? I will admit that resources have been used up, but I believe humans will adjust and begin switching to renewable energy in another generation. Meanwhile the WT Society will still be cutting down trees to print books and magazines that all end up in the trash after a few years. If the WT really did follow those two universal laws, they would stop shunning family and ex-members who decide to leave the KH and they would be spending some of their billion dollar wealth on public charities. Now that would make a WT public talk I would attend- the day they admit how they have destroyed familes and have lied to it's members. |

If we abandoned the planet tomorrow the earth would repair itself and there would be peace and harmony in Nature......... Soooo... you're saying that if we humans left, all the meat eating birds, insects, and animals would suddenly become vegetarian? Why would humans leaving the Earth trigger this? Cheetahs will still take down gazelles, hornets will still rip honeybees apart to get at their honey in the hive, ants will still attack beetles, even crabs, hawks will still eat mice. I find your peace in Nature theory highly unlikely.

You said his name was "JeHIVah". Is that because his CV also includes the fact that he created all illnesses including AIDS? |

I have to disagree with Violet, who can't even take pains to spell Jehovah correctly (although you did on your other duplicate post... weird. Its J E H O V A H) A former mercenary who becomes a JW as I have learned, is hardly qualified to teach the bible simply because they become converts to JW's. Also, JW's have more then 2 laws, so he is mistaken, and likely got the outline wrong. Have a nice day! |

DANG IT? There's an acceptable period of time? Per the elder's manual: A "momentary" touch is mere "uncleanness", and isn't even judicial - it can be handled by a talk with 2 elders. However, something longer than "momentary" branches over into loose conduct, and is grounds for disfellowshipping if the participants are unable to convince 3 window-washers that they really didn't enjoy it and won't ever do it again. |

What if it were reduced to one law: No one shall initiate the use of force, threats of force, or fraud against another person or their property. Suppose this law was strictly enforced, and no other laws ever got passed or enforced. Under this, how many wars would we have? If no one ever initiates force, there would never be a war. How much food shortages would we have? If one develops, someone is going to find a way to solve it (and someone else will find a way to use our garbage as a raw material). Would there be crime? If no one ever initiated force, threats of force, or fraud, there would be no crime (and no stagnation for people to do things for kicks). And, without the FDA, we could have scientists perfect the use of medication and even resurrect people in perfect health. Now, how has God fared next to this? |
