You know also by now when people praise god they are under emotional guilt for something they did, 

maybe this was the case for her winning the Championship away from her sister.

God is useful for many reason as its known.

She is a very talented and humble lady and so is her sister.  Its unfortunate that she has to throw her hat in the ring with the JWs but like Prince and like Michael...as celebrities they can be pointed to with some smugness by the JWs as sistahs and bruthas.

When they have to do NATIONALISTIC things like run around with the flag, that is what is EXPECTED of them in the public arena and Im sure the whole time they are doing it they are saying "Jehovah I dont really mean this, please forgive me to having to do this!"

Mouthy, I am inclined to concur with WuzLovesDubs who said

but of course I have no way of knowing and am not in the least interested. But in my own experience if something is not written explicitly in the Bible or Watchtower literature then each hall does have different rules regarding personal behaviour. Quite often Bible principles are applied differently at different halls, even within the same city. While I have no reason to defend the Watchtower or Serena Williams, in this case I think they were telling the truth.

There are rules for every day JWS and there are rules for rich popular celebrities. 

So lets say a rich celebrity puts in a huge amount of money into their hall and it gets noted to all of

the elders who did it, you can confidently assume that person is is going to be looked upon

differently than the rest of the congregation members. There is a word for it its called favoritism.

If a hall or congregation is condoning in their hall of matters such as exracaricular sports, flag adoration or any other clearly defined matter from the Papal office brooklyn their would be hell oops to pay eventually.

My local congregation says SHUNNING is unscriptural.  They say that birthdays are perfectly fine if you dont use a pinata and....dont go there today because they are all at the FIREWORKS.

I'm glad jah keeps her healthy. She must be special because many others who follow Jah are going to bed hungry and sick. I guess she puts in more field service time than the others do.

Very important to me Please all tell me about YOUR Hall!!!!

I thanks my god that in spite of unstinting service and study, I was stabbed in the back by the JWS. Despite hours and hours of service, my health was taken away, and I am now treated as persona non-grata, by the loving brotherhood.

Maybe Earnest could explain why entire bodies of elders have been disbanded and congregations closed with any who stay "loyal" having to go to other halls/congoes in the area. Methinks it was their attitude towards "personal" views on bible principles not matching the "rules" from brooklyn. At the end of the day there simply is no such thing as personal views in the org. The only real reason for the teaching of being governed by bible principles is to get around the truth that they are totally and explicitly told how to conduct their lives right down to minor details of daily life. Bin there, done that.

I've noticed there seems to be a high number of champion boxers who thank God/Jesus for successfully pummelling the opponents head in.  It's amazing also how many soccer players do the cross and look to the heavens after scoring a goal or running on to the pitch.

It's pathetic when God's intervention is reduced to this kind of petty personal ego success thing while billions of others are living in poverty.
