Hi my names josephus, and i am an apostate.

Well this is the day.

I mentioned to my mum that i read a good book recently about dates, and cronology.

She blew up and told me i was just trying to read anything that attempts to disprove jws.

apparently i am like those apostates, and people didnt want to talk to my because of it.

"this is the truth", she said.

Well i am now an apostate. it doesnt feel as bad as i thought it would.

They're right, hanging out with us apostates will screw up your head. We'll make you sit in long boring meetings where you have to repeat everything we say exactly the way we say it. If you mess up you'll be corrected in front of all the other apostates. Three times a year you will have to go to even longer and more boring meetings where you will hear the same stuff all over again. Twice a year a higher up apostate will come by to flog as all into submission to the secret apostate council.

Good point. Unbiased is the key. I tend to read scientific non-fiction, various historical accounts and a number of difference reference points regarding scriptures and/or spiritual thought before I come to conclusions.

I also trust my own experiences far more than I trust hearsay or anything I read.

I discount biased sources of information on either side of the argument.

I agree with you though, that most anti-Watchtower information has to be filtered carefully for agendas, biases and hyperbole.

There is also the possibility that a secret group of Munchkins are controlling the world. If I had to choose from one of those two options, I'll err on the side of odds and take the later.

Define "unbiased." Would merely quoting directly from the WTS literature to validate an assertion satisfy you? Let's say I stated this: "The WTS teaches its members to hate others, and here's proof." If I then produced a string of direct WTS quotes, where they came from and all the surrounding context in those quotes that proved that assertion, would you call that "unbiased?" If an apostate such as myself did that, would you call it "unbiased?" If a current Governing Body member did exactly the same thing, would you call it "unbiased?" If someone who never had any prior dealings with JWs did that, would you call it "unbiased?" If God did that, would you call it "unbiased?"

Please explain your answers.

I am a moron who was affected by 1975. I was not allowed to go to college by my parents, also morons, who believed the end was too near to bother with education. My brother and his wife, also morons, put off reconstructive breastbone surgery on my oldest niece because the brothers told them to wait since 1975 and the end were so close. One of my father's best friends in the congregation was a moron who sold his business. He had to go back to work a few years later.

My whole congregation in Valdosta Georgia was morons. My pioneer partners were morons. There were a lot of morons among the Witnesses in 1975.

I think Farkel raised an excellent question. How do you personally define "unbiased". Also, what would you consider to be an unbiased source for finding information on JWs. You say that apostate material is biased and obviously JW literature is going to be biased also. What is your opionion?
