Okay, so my wife and mom both got back from their public talk / WT study this evening.  My loudmouthed sister asked if there were any announcements.  The bookstudy is hereafter known as "The Congregation Bible Study".  The new arrangement will take place in January of '09.  There you have it.  Many of the prognosticators were correct in their predicitions as to the "reasons" for this "blessing from Jehoober".  One was a steady attendance decline for the past 10 yrs. or so and another, rising gas prices making it a "hardship on the brotherhood" to attend 3 different meetings a week.  So, there you have it folks.

I'm really pleased.  One less meeting my elderly parents will have to attend.  One less night of indoctrination for my nieces and nephews.

The rising gas prices making a hardship is such a lame, weasel-y reason. So, if prices go back to "normal" or at least down fifty cents to a buck, I guess they will reinstate (pun fully intended) the BS from the new and improved CBS.

I've seen on news as well as personally and heard from many here that gas is way more in other places in the world and has been for some time.

Now the attendance reason I believe. BS with the service meeting makes attendance for all higher. My wife also mentioned that liability in private homes could be a reason. I think some here have also postulated on that.

I've wondered about the liability in private homes too.  Wonder what may have happened? a fight at someone's home and property destroyed, someone  touched inappropriately in someone's home,   and they sue the WTS?

I think it has nothing to do with gas prices and liability. The GB they realize that they will lose even more members or scare off interested ones if they continue with the schedule and demand upon the witnesses.Every witness that i know has told me the stress isway too much for the friends in trying to keep up with everything.

Also the Book study has always been along with the watchtower one of the most boring meeting they have since they continue the study the same thing over and over again  even when they come up with a new publication,it's repeated garbage even when they study a new publication.

Next, it will be the school that might be canceled or altered since it's a waste of time

Prices NEVER go back down to where they were.  They rise sky high for a few weeks or months while everybody

moans and complains, then when they drop a few pennies everybody gets happy.  But the price is still way higher

than it was, but because they went down slightly everybody is overjoyed.  I truly believe they play psychological

    tricks with the consumer.

I looked at my wife and said, "So much for the provision of meeting in secret during the great trib. Legal and financial decisions are what run the GB now". She looked at me and asked, "This is scary. So what is the truth now?" I replied. "I dunno, but this isn't it." I really felt for JW's because they were so misled. Any who stay in at this point are just plain dumb

    May you have peace!

She looked at me and asked, "This is scary. So what is the truth now?"

Please tell your wife that the Truth is what it has always been, and that they were NEVER the truth.  Ever.  Tell her that, if she's looking for some place to go away to after this... there is NO place.  There is only a whom.

    John 14:6; John 6:66-69

I bid you and your wife much peace.

I took the 'sting' out of the secret here. Last Tuesday I posted a large 'Special Bulletin' over the meeting times sign at the door of the local Hall.

I let the cat out of the bag for at least a few service groups that morning. So with an entire week to gossip about the change, and what mean-spirited apostate might have told them early, it likely was no surprise to them here. I love killing the PO's joy of having a secret to tell.

I know, I know, I am just a mean ole' bastard. But then, so is he.

Needless to say the fuel price rises and some other nonsense are ridiculous excuses they cooked up leaving us guessing as to what the real reasons might be. My guess is that they are doing it to lessen the pressure on a frustrated and disillusioned audience that has to attend dull, uninspired, repetitive information meetings three times per week.

That's great, Jeff!!  Especially since the WT study today had an entire subheading dedicated to "the most important" subject:  avoiding apostates and their wicked, unity-busting reasoning.  Sure was fun listening to the comments on that one!  People started telling stories of what apostates had told them and how they reacted to it, before the conductor reeled it back in.  LOL!  I was dyin!

It also helps them keep the electric bill down since the dildos didn't think of putting in solar energy .So now they look at very high electric bills. Don't worry they can just complain about not having money until people give them some to make them shut up.

    Hebrews 10 (New International Version)

    New International Version (NIV)

    Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

    Hebrews 10

    Christ's Sacrifice Once for All
1The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, 4because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
"Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
          but a body you prepared for me;
6with burnt offerings and sin offerings
          you were not pleased.
7Then I said, 'Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, O God.' "[a]8First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made). 9Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. 13Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, 14because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16"This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds."[b]17Then he adds:
       "Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more."[c]18And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. 19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[d] and again, "The Lord will judge his people."[e]31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. 33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.

35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37For in just a very little while,
"He who is coming will come and will not delay.
38But my righteous one[f] will live by faith.
       And if he shrinks back,
I will not be pleased with him."[g]39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.

Yes, yes, yes, one less meeting night a week is a good start to reducing the pressure endured by the rank and file. However, the rising price of oil is a feeble justification for this change. During the last oil crisis in the 1970s, the cost of oil was significantly higher than it is today (adjustments for cost of living and inflation), yet the pressure was maintained because 1975 was looimng! It's all excuse making: They're losing active members fast and the elimination of one meeting night a week is a limp-wristed attempt to stop the hemorrhaging. Like it could ever work! I predict it will have the opposite effect: Send the message that you should spend more time away from active involvement in the organization. We'll all be watching this space!
