What is most important for a typical JW

Manitoba Post 6363 of 7243 Since 12/16/2002	What, in your opinion, is most important thing for a typical JW? What affects him in his day to day life? What causes them to make the decisions they do? Is it their love for Jehovah? Is it how many doors they knock on? Or is it their reputation among other JWs?

Post 351 of 940 Since 2/22/2006	I think Sir82 hit it right on the head. I never noticed it before, but when I was a zealot, I used to do things just to impact my "standing" in the congregation. For example, a 5th grader has no trouble picking out the answers to the WT or KM, yet I would underline every piece of study material for every single meeting and bring printouts of scriptures, ect to boot! Now, I just don't care what others think.

North Carolina Post 47 of 2379 Since 3/16/2007	LOL megsmomma I agree it's all about appearance. But In my parents case, they sincerely want to make sure all their actions are favorable with Jehovah. (dad's the PO as well) You definetely won't find two more people that walk the straight line.

Is it their love for Jehovah? Is it how many doors they knock on? Or is it their reputation among other JWs? Speaking for myself when I was a JW. I wanted to do the right thing. Why? I wanted recognition from my parents. I dont think I got much attention from my parents. So I figured I would try to get it from God. So for a time, I tried to follow the rules of the JW organization to the best of my ability. During that time a witness may have described me as a lover of Jehovah. And maybe I was to a degree. I always remember having a degree of depression. Maybe its normal, I dont know. But one way early on I learned to cope with depression was to have an attitude of gratitude. That would translate to being thankful to the one I thought gave me life, Jehovah and doing his will which equated to being a good JW. So in that convaluted way during my time as a JW, I made my decisions based on my love for Jehovah. And if that could be true for me, I can believe it could be true for some others.
