looking for friends to talk with

Hi all brothers and sisters. i am simply looking for friends to talk with over email or icq. I am adjusting to living alone after my wife left me and then was disfellowshipped. I am adjusting ok but would like to talk with other witnesses. i don't want to talk about my problems really i just need a few friends to talk to about anything. I hope to here from you soon. Thanks everyone i look forward to talking with you all. I know i sent you's email but for everyone to see i am inactive because of the way the elders treated me during the hardest time of my life and i have no respect for them right now they turned there backs on me. My ex wife is df'd and has no plans on going back as she is looking forward to Christmas and so on. This program that you's have here is the best thing on the net i love it. Thanks and you will see me around as i hope i will see all of you and others around.

Welcome Chris. I was worried you might have stumbled upon the "wrong" place by accident.

You will find that many people here, just like nearly any Witness that has to deal with the elders in the back rooms, has had a bad experience.

I think this is not because most of them aren't nice guys, but simply because they are thrown into dealing with situations that they are not qualified to deal effectively with.

This is a nice place, as you will find that you are free to be honest as you would like to be. You will find many people in the same spot as yourself, who while inactive, are not these mean or "weak" people that they've been played up to be.

I would suggest one thing, that perhaps you might want to take your full name out of your "profile" and not include the country where you are from. I know canada is a small place in the truth, and there's no need to aggravate yourself by being called to account for saying the "wrong thing" online. But that is entirely up to you.

Thanks Path, I never thought of that. Well it isn't that i really care what they think right now but I don't feel like dealing with them right now so don't want a knock on the door from them. Thnks for the welcome i really appreciate all of this i am enjoying all the replies that i am recieving i am glad that there are people out there who know and understand what I am going through. You can't talk to any of your old friends because they all turn away as well. (What kind of friend is that) It is not that i don't appreciate Jehovah or anything it is just that i am not to happy with the Watchtower organization at present. If only they would look into what real life was like they might be a little more compasionite. O well like you said they are not the perfect people they make out to be and they don't understand alot (or choose to turn there head)so what are you going to do.. Where is the loving councel i heard about when i first learned the truth? Thanks again

There are many who share your disappointment Chris. I think if you simply spend sometime thinking and asking the questions you will find the reason why things are the way they are. You will also find that things have never been rosey in JW land and that what you see in your congregation is a window to what is happening everywhere else.

You must be very careful about your identity. I would imagine that we are only separated by one common acquaintance in the "truth" in Canada.

you know Path i don't even need time to think as the last year pasted and as my life was going down slowly i noticed a difference in the way i was treated and it wasn't just by the elders either it was everyone that knew what was going on. What i was thinking to myself was i didn't do anything to upset them it was my wife and they are treating me the same as if i was doing something wrong. Well then i knew that something wasn't right and that i didnt't belong and that is also how they made me feel. So thinking about it? No already seen first hand what they are all about and don't like it and don't want it. But one question to you and others, Do you believe in Jehovah? I do but sometimes i just don't know, ii wonder to myself if there was a god named Jehovah and he is as loving as they say then why why all of this? I just don't know maby someone can enlighten me on what they think

I do believe in God still. I still pray to Jehovah. I am not so sure of the things i used to be.

One thing you need to do though is understand why everything is the way it is in the organization. You should start by reading Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz. It will help things make sense to you.

Its easy to be angry, but much better to understand why you feel angry. Its not because you were mistreated by the elders, but because they are a product of a system that either encourages or permits that behaviour.

I don't really want to enlighten you based on what i "think". I'd hope you can simply look at the facts and reach your own conclusions based on them.

We have gone round and round here on why God permits the evil in this world. The bottom line, of course, is that no one knows, not even MDS. (Sorry, inside joke) There is a thread on one of these forums that addresses this specifically. You might want to rummage around and see if you can find it. All you'll get, however, are opinions.
In the end that is all that we can get from any human agency. We just didn't know that at the time we were plugged into the matrix.

I can sympathize with your situation, it's similar to mine. My wife was never a JW, so I had an "unbelieving" mate. I was treated differently because of that. Many JW's were under the assumption that I was a JW when I married my wife, which isn't true. Most if not all of the participants at this forum are at odds with the Society and not for reasons of immorality.

Anyway, this is a great forum for people like you. Many on this board are well informed and very knowledgable. I hope all works out well for you.
