Hello everyone. First post here. A full fledged MS in the bOrg in South Florida USA! Yep, you got a live one here! Just got back from this year's DC. I mostly dozed through the final talk of the DC this year. You know, the one with the "Resolution"? The speaker at our DC was GB member Gerrit Lösch, who apparently speaks fluent Spanish. Several JW's mentioned the impressive "new light" in the talk after the DC ended that I did not catch because it was all "blah blah..the end is really soon now!...blah blah-should be grateful for the GB!..blah blah" for three mind-numbing days. Losch brought up 1975 and compared it to a mother being wrong on predicting the day her baby would be born-of course she wouldn't throw out the baby clothes, cribs, etc because of this, she KNOWS the baby is coming! Of course, if a woman is still expecting 30 years later there is something ELSE wrong with this picture. Anyway, I was curious if anyone had access to a recording of final talk of the DC convention for me to listen to since I practically slept through mine when I was not murmuring. English OR Spanish is cool. Time to Burn the Ships.

What a crackpot comparsion (Women having baby, throwiing out clothes). Oh please! What garbage! And I bet the majority of the audience just nodded their head's and agreed like bobble heads.

    Sorry... WELCOME BURN

Yeah, sounds like there could be a little problem there (sarcasm intended).

Welcome!  I was down in South Florida on vacation just a month ago (July is the wrong time to go if you don't like humidity ).

Hope you make it through Ernesto safely.

There's another term for it, "false pregnancy"

And if SHE were keeping a full nursery going all those years, she'd be certifiably nutters.

In that case, this is one seriously long overdue baby!  Or like Jgnat said, a false pregnancy.

I am surprised that they would actually admit to the 1975 thing, as most Witnesses I knew felt that to deny it was better then to admit it. Sounds like the internet has forced them to address it to some point, even if it was only to try and get people to feel the end was coming again. To go with their illustration though, if you miss the due date by such a huge amount, might be time to get a new OBGYN, as your current one sucks!

Isn't Gerrit Lösch the GB member that likes to sunbathe on the roof of one of the Brooklyn buildings?

A special screen on the roof had to be constructed just for his use.

    Welcome

Losch, heard him speak a few years back, not much of a speaker and not much of an illustration of a pregnant woman.

Wow,31 years after 1975 they are still trying to undue the damage .Don't they realize those that left because of it , are not coming back.

Good point, but seeing as they keep using the same old "new light " they are in utter darkness, not knowing that the light has went out.

Well the comparison is wrong but if he wanted to be technical, the baby was expected in 1878, 1914, 1915, 1918, 195, 1940's, 1975, 1994 and before the year 2000.  What a dumbass!

Welcome BTS  someone emailed me this....might be what you're looking for,

    DECLARATION AND RESOLUTION

2006 "DELIVERANCE AT HAND" DISTRICT CONVENTION

    INTRODUCTION

According to God's prophetic word and its fulfillment thus far, we are approaching an unprecedented time of trouble for the present world. Jesus foretold this great prophecy of the conclusion of this system of things: "There will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning until now, no, nor will occur again." In view of what was decreed, what position do we as Jehovah's Witnesses, take toward the world? At times the expression "the world" refers to mankind in general as at John 3: 16; however, the Bible plainly shows that the term "world" can sometimes refer to human society that is alienated from God.

Note Jesus' words regarding this at John 17:14: "I have given your word to them, but the world has hated them because they are no part of the world, just as 1 am no part of the world." This is a vitally important principle by which Jehovah's Witnesses are guided. In view of the foregoing, as Jehovah's Witnesses assembled at this Deliverance at Hand convention, we make the following declaration and resolve:

    1. Because of our love for Jehovah and for our neighbors, we are determined to intensify our witness to the world of mankind regardless of their race, nationality or station in life.

    2. Having made an unreserved dedication to God, we are determined to give Jehovah our exclusive devotion. He comes first in our life.

    3. Just as Jesus was no part of the world, neither are we part of human society that is alienated from God.

    4. Out of loyalty to Jehovah and to his son, Jesus, we are firmly resolved not to compromise the Bible's righteous principles.

    5. We utterly refuse to become involved with the futile interfaith movements, as well as social programs and schemes designed to perpetuate a system that God has condemned as a failure.

    6. We will continue to show relative subjection to properly constituted authority, respectfully giving to Caesar what is Caesar's and rendering to God the things that are God's. We do not take sides or become involved in political controversies.

7 . We will resist with all of our strength, the spirit of the world that manifests in it such things as materialism, unwholesome entertainment, overindulgence in food and alcoholic beverages, the plague of pornographic material and the curiosity or temptation that lures one into association with outsiders through Internet chat rooms.

Our resolve is to be no part of the world as we carry on worship that is clean from the standpoint of our God. In all these ways we are determined to give evidence of being no part of the world, making that manifest in every aspect of our life and in our relationship with others. With the help and strength that God supplies and support from his inspired word, we will maintain a scripturally balanced position regarding this time of stress and upheaval. As Jehovah's Witnesses, it is our resolve to remain set apart from the world in accord with sound scriptural principles. We are determined to pursue this course wholeheartedly so as to have God's approval. Thus our expectation is to survive the end of this present wicked system of things into a clean, righteous and enduring new world where we will enjoy God's gift of everlasting life.

All those in favor of adopting this resolution please say "Aye".

    Welcome aboard, Shipburner!

So they're still talking about 1975, eh? I'm surprised that the R&F even think of it these days but the baby illustration is kinda an ill fit isn't it? It doesn't mention why you'd want to buy 'em thirty years ahead! After all, the moths might get at 'em!
