The mods are not in the business of cleaning up poor posting judgements. If you are intoxicated or depressed, think it out before you post.

Also, remember this in general: If you just let it die - most threads will be forgotten and vanish into archives in a day or two. Pm's are supposed to be 'Private Messages' - prob a good idea to makes sure that the other party has no problem with you posting part or all of what they stated.

I am pretty sure that Simon, and all the mods would agree with these statements. I have cleaned up some in the past, including one today. But mods are here to control situations, not to erase poor judgement. Reaction is a poor substitute for proactive thought. In many cases mods are not around, or don't see the thread.

If you don't want it seen, or discussed, just leave it at home?

Just to add a couple of things to what Jeff said.

PM actually means "Personal Message" While others cannot read the PMs - not even the mods -- Simon and Angharad do have access to them. And believe me they don't roam free through PMs just to see what people are posting to each other. They are far too busy for that. They check them only when asked to.

So. . . 

• if you want to post spam, insults or anything else that goes against posting guidelines just know PMs are not totally private.
• If you wonder "Should I post this?" Don't!

Some people think that if they post something in the Members section it is safe from JW eyes. Look. All anyone has to do to read things posted in the Members Only section is sign up for a membership. That's it. Then they have free access to everything posted in that part of the board.

So. . .

• if you worry someone might read your post and figure out who you are -  don't post it.
• if you've had a bit too much to drink or smoke or whatever then stay off the board. What you post is there for anyone to read.

Mods can't possibly read everything on the board. If you see something that you know crosses the Posting Guidelines let us know. This is your board too. Help us keep it a great place to come to

The 'Survivor' model might be coming sometime soon, actually. Simon indicated that at some point the board would become primarily self-moderated. I have no timetable for that.

I take that as meaning everyone can choose who to "ignore," not that there would be some sort of witchhunt to "vote" people off the board. That would be silly.

I vote John Doe for President !  nobody better try and get him off here, they will have a very angry bear to deal with, and you will find out why I am called Poo !

If someone makes a complaint Simon or Angharad will check out the PM. It doesn't need to be a "violation of law". All it requires is that the posting guidelines are not being followed - check the posting guidelines at the bottom of the page.

Otherwise they have better things to do
